What does a tutoring session look like?

Our sessions are 50 minutes long and conducted virtually using Google Meet (no account required). We begin with an initial assessment of your child’s reading and writing skills to establish a baseline and determine the best starting point in our program. Following this, each lesson follows a consistent, structured routine as we go through all the sounds and spelling rules of the English language, one by one. While the content changes weekly, the predictable format helps reduce anxiety and keeps students focused on mastering the material.

How many lessons per week should we choose?

Two to three lessons per week is ideal for most students. This provides the consistent practice and repetition necessary to maximize the program’s effectiveness, without it becoming overwhelming. We understand that this represents a significant investment in your child’s future, so we offer tiered discounts for our two and three lessons per week plans to make this more accessible.

How long will my child need to continue lessons?

How long your child will need tutoring depends on your child’s individual needs, their starting point in the program (established during our initial assessment), and their weekly lesson frequency. While a student doing three lessons per week can complete the Orton Gillingham Online curriculum in as little as nine months, we prioritize mastery over speed and progress only as fast as your child can handle. Because every lesson is customized to the student’s unique learning profile, our program is designed to provide continuous, dedicated support for as long as necessary to ensure lasting academic success.

How does billing and payment work?

We will send you an initial invoice for the first week of tutoring which must be paid before the first lesson. After that you will be automatically charged once per week to whatever payment method you used to pay the invoice, always one week in advance. Accepted payment methods are debit, credit, Google Pay, or Apple Pay.

Will the price ever go up?

Once you start on a weekly plan, the price will never change. However, if you signed up during a promotion or sale, if you cancel or take a break, the same price may not be available when you sign up again.

Is there funding support for tutoring?

Yes! According to the CRA, tutoring services are tax deductible or eligible for the Disability Tax Credit (DTC) for persons who have a learning disability or an impairment in mental functions. A medical practitioner must certify in writing that tutoring services are needed. There are also different grants available from organizations across Canada.

When are lessons taught?

We teach lessons Monday to Friday, 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM Central Time (CT). Once you have a time slot set up, you can expect to keep the same schedule every week.

What is the cancellation policy?

You can cancel any time without notice or penalty. You are always charged one week in advance, so keep that in mind when deciding when to cancel.

What if I need to reschedule a lesson?

Please contact your tutor as soon as possible if you are unable to make a lesson and need to reschedule. We will always reschedule any lesson for free if at least 24 hours notice is given.
